The most powerful skill you were never taught
The most powerful skill most people were never taught:
Storytelling.
Master it and you can sell just about anything.
It’s a shame, however, that most people were never taught this vital skill in school or by their employers.
Storytelling is universal. It’s what helps us take an idea and share it in a way that resonates with our audience.
Steve Jobs built the entire Apple mission around selling how his company can allow the customer to think different.
Its widely known that Apple's computing power and ability pales in comparison to many other personal computing devices out there. And yet, the company is the most valuable company in the world and the first company ever to reach a market cap of over $3 trillion.
In short: people buy the products because they resonate with the company story. The customer sees themselves as the hero and the Apple product as their guide to reaching their transformation.
Apple isn’t alone, however.
Thousands of companies, movements, and individuals have harnessed the power of storytelling for their own benefit.
These companies and individuals have uncovered the repeatable strategies and tactics that help yield predictable results. Those results range from:
Increasing overall revenue for their product or service
Helping to get their message out into the world
Building an audience and awareness
The best part?
Storytelling isn’t a secret. It’s not hard to learn either.
Tomorrow, I want to talk a bit more about the power of storytelling and the effects it can have on your life. I also want to dive a bit more into storytelling and give you a peek behind the curtain as to how to implement effective storytelling into your business or personal life.
Stay tuned and keep your eyes peeled for that email coming tomorrow.
Best,
Amar
